Diese Replik zeigt ein Doppel-Tier-Kapitell mit dem Stier-Motiv.

Am oberen Ende der Säulen trugen Kapitelle das enorme Gewicht des Palastdaches. Das Achämenidische Kapitell bestand aus einem unteren Teil mit floralen Ornamenten, darüber einem Figurenkapitell mit gespiegelten Köpfen von Fabelwesen (meistens Stier, seltener Löwe, Sphinx und Greif) mit einem verbindenden flachen Rücken, auf dem die massiven Holzbalken der Decke auflagen. Solche Kapitelle sind vom Hundert-Säulen-Palast in Persepolis (errichtet um 490 v.Chr.) bekannt, als auch aus dem Palast des Dareios I. in Susa. Aus letzterem ist noch ein vollständiges Stierkapitell erhalten, es befindet sich heute im Louvre in Paris. In Persepolis selbst sind nur noch Bruchteile von Doppel-Tier-Kapitellen vorhanden.

This replica shows a Double-animal-capital with the motif of bull.

The topmost member of a column is the capital carrying the enormous weight of the roof. The Achaemenid capital consisted of a lower part, a composite capital with floral ornaments, and an upper figure capital with mirrored heads of mythical zoomorphic creatures (mostly bull, less common lion, sphinx, gryphon). On their flat joint back they carried the wooden main beams of the roof construction. Such capitals are known from the Hundred-Columns-Palace in Persepolis (constructed around 490 BC), and from the Palace of Dareios I. in Susa. One complete example of a bull-headed capital from Susa is today exhibited in the Louvre, Paris.  Fragment pieces of Double-Animal-Capitals can still be seen in Persepolis.
