Pendant – Mayor of the Palace Pharnaces

Diese Replik ist ein Ausschnitt aus dem Audienzrelief von Dareios I. (ca. 515 v.Chr.), das sich in Persepolis befindet.

Der Ausschnitt zeigt den Hofmarschall Farnaka (altgriech.: Pharnakes). Der Offizier verneigt sich vor dem Großkönig und macht Meldung, wobei er sich die Hand vor den Mund hält. Zwei Weihrauchgefäße trennen ihn – und das ist nur im gesamten Relief zu sehen – vom Großkönig Dareios I. auf dem Thron und seinem Hofstab.

This replica is a section from the relief “Audience of Dareios I.” (about 515 BC), which is located in Persepolis.

The section shows Pharnaces, Mayor of the Palace (chief economic official). Pharnaces bows before the king and gives a status report while holding one hand in front of his mouth for reasons of politeness. Two containers with frankincense are located between him and King Dareios I. on the throne with his staff of court behind.
